I am now offering guitar & bass lessons in the San Francisco Bay Area!
I’ve taught music to people of all ages for twenty years, and I’ve learned through long-term experience how to zero in on goals and problem areas to bring out the best musician in you. I take a song-first approach: instead of starting with mechanics, we use a song as a guide and ask “What techniques do we need to learn to play this accurately?” Every person’s singular blend of influences and tendencies then blossoms into a unique style all their own, and I delight in hearing what each and every one of my students has to say with their music.
Some of my former students have gone on to build successful and growing careers in music, including North Carolina folk artist Katy Cox, one-man emo band Park National, and Nashville-based singer-songwriter Tess Clare.
